The route in the Port of Somiedo begins crossing the town of Santa Maria by its margin the west to take to its outskirts a track from use restricted to the neighbors and cattle dealers. Crossed this one by its left margin, is a col from where the route continues, to average slope, over the Fertile valley of Penouta. Throughout the passage descries by hand right of the footpath Pena Penouta, and to the left the crests of the Picu Prefustes and Bad Miro. Immediately a collada one with views is reached beautiful to the Picu of the Cornón.

Crossing the col and after a light slope by one valleja, the footpath arrives at the Mozarras, upholstered silíceo plateau of subalpine scrubs where junipers, crawling and bilberries abound and furrowed by drip multitude that conforms a difficult and sprinkled landscape of small llamazos. The right White Rock has left and the Fontanón and is reached to the base of the Cornón to ascend to the top by the denominated stairs of the Cornón, in the South face of its summit, and to enjoy superb views on mounts and fertile valleys that conform the limit of Asturias and Leon. In addition if the day is cleared, from this height a splendid Vista of the Cantabrian Mountain range is had, from the Ubiñas in the council of Quiros, to Pico Miravalles in Ibias and even the sea.

Observations:

The Cornón, with its 2,194 meters, is the point upper of the council of Somiedo. Getting up on white quartzites is upholstery by infinity of species of lichens that, according to the luminance conditions and of humidity confer different colors to him, being surprising their changing metabolism.

In the Port of Somiedo, to 1485 meters of altitude, is the town of Santa Maria of the Port, braña vaqueira located to two kilometers of the limit with Leon, in the source Sil.
